Banknote and tape measure representing energy costs
For industrial sites

Industrial BESS in Switzerland,
from assessment to operation.

CurvatureEnergy develops, finances, builds and operates behind-the-meter battery storage for industrial sites. The model can combine peak shaving, PV integration and energy-cost optimisation without upfront expenditure by the host, subject to site feasibility and an agreed contract.

The business case

Start with the site data,
not a standard system.

A battery energy storage system (BESS) can charge when electricity is available or less costly and discharge when the industrial site needs it. Depending on the load profile and tariff, that may reduce peak-demand charges, increase use of on-site PV or help the site operate within connection limits.

The configuration is site-specific. Consumption data, electricity invoices, operating constraints, available space and grid conditions determine whether a project should proceed and which commercial model is suitable.

Development path

From first data
to an operating BESS.

CurvatureEnergy remains responsible for moving the project through defined stages. Each stage has a decision point before the next commitment is made.

01

Qualify: review load data, tariffs, PV, space and operating requirements.

02

Design: define an indicative BESS configuration and operating logic.

03

Develop: coordinate grid, site, permitting, technical and contractual workstreams.

04

Finance and build: finalise the agreed structure, suppliers and delivery programme.

05

Operate: manage the system and settle measured savings under the contract.

Commercial structures

One technical project.
Different ownership models.

The structure is selected after the technical and commercial review. Availability depends on the site, verified project economics, counterparties and contract terms.

— Model A

Zero-CAPEX shared savings

CurvatureEnergy finances, builds, owns and operates the BESS. The industrial host makes no upfront payment and receives an agreed share of verified savings.

— Model B

Host ownership

The industrial company finances and owns the BESS. CurvatureEnergy develops and coordinates the project under an agreed scope.

— Model C

Site lease or hybrid

Where a separate project on the industrial site is appropriate, the structure may combine a long-term site lease with defined energy or operating interfaces.

The initial assessment

What we review,
what you receive.

A focused first stage designed to determine whether the site warrants further technical and commercial development.

— 01

What we assess

  • Load profile and peak-demand behaviour
  • Electricity invoices and tariff structure
  • Existing or planned PV generation
  • Available land, rooftop or carport space
  • Grid connection and operational constraints
  • Indicative BESS sizing and use cases
— 02

What we need to start

  • 12 months of 15-minute or hourly consumption data
  • Recent electricity invoices
  • Information on existing or planned PV
  • Indication of available land, rooftop or carport space
  • Short discussion with the site’s operating and energy teams
— 03

What you receive

  • Initial fit assessment
  • Indicative BESS configuration
  • Estimated savings range and calculation basis
  • Key assumptions and constraints
  • Proposed commercial structure
  • Development actions and decision points
Roles and interfaces

Clear responsibilities
from the start.

The host knows the operation; CurvatureEnergy leads the project-development process. Network operators, authorities and delivery partners retain their respective decisions and responsibilities.

— The industrial host

Site and operating information

Provides interval data, invoices, information on PV and available space, operating constraints, site access and a responsible internal contact.

— CurvatureEnergy

Development coordination

Leads assessment, configuration, grid and site work, commercial structuring, supplier coordination and the agreed route to financing, construction and operation.

— Project counterparties

Defined technical scopes

Network operators, authorities, equipment suppliers, installers and optimisation providers are engaged for the decisions and services within their remit.

Self-assessment

Is your site a fit?

If several of these apply, a short feasibility discussion may be worthwhile.

  • Material electricity consumption or recurring peak-demand charges
  • Existing or planned PV generation
  • Available space on-site for a BESS footprint
  • Existing grid connection with potential capacity for storage integration
  • Long-term operational site with stable energy demand
  • Location in Switzerland or selected European markets

Next step

Start with your
site data.

Share 12 months of interval consumption data, recent electricity invoices and basic site information. CurvatureEnergy will confirm the scope of an initial assessment and the information needed for a first decision.
