CurvatureEnergy is a BESS project developer in Switzerland and co-develops projects in selected European markets, from site identification and grid feasibility through to ready-to-build (RTB). We work with landowners, local partners and other developers. For selected projects, the agreed mandate can extend beyond RTB into financing, construction, ownership and operation.
The role of a battery depends on the site and its intended operation. Renewable generation, local demand, grid constraints and electricity tariffs shape the technical and commercial assessment.
CurvatureEnergy assesses site suitability, grid feasibility, land rights, permitting and delivery responsibilities before defining the next development step.
Six areas we assess when reviewing a BESS site or project, from initial screening to ready-to-build status.
Check whether the proposed charging, discharging and flexibility services fit the connection capacity and operating conditions.
Assess the footprint, access and land use alongside the connection location. Proximity to a substation does not establish available capacity.
Check the grid, land and permitting evidence behind the stated project status, and identify what remains unresolved before construction.
Define responsibilities, contractual interfaces and development milestones before coordinating construction and delivery.
Review the responsible network operator’s requirements and the cantonal and local planning and permitting route for each site.
Record assumptions, open questions, indicative costs and timing at each stage before deciding which development work should follow.
Three things matter at the start of a partnership: what we will look at, what we contribute, and what we need from you to begin.
CurvatureEnergy reviews BESS sites and projects to assess the path to grid connection, land rights and a workable development plan.
CurvatureEnergy can lead the full development path. The precise scope is agreed for each project and may extend through financing, construction and operation.
To assess a project efficiently, we typically need:
We agree the scope before starting. Depending on project stage, the work can include three practical outputs.
A concise record of site characteristics, constraints and information gaps to guide further review.
Site information and proposed charging and discharging power, with operator responses and outstanding requests recorded separately.
The next land, permitting and technical checks, with responsibilities and dependencies identified.
Each output distinguishes documented information, assumptions and outstanding requests. Screening does not confirm land rights, connection capacity or planning approval.
